Beautiful paint with nice chrome and exterior trim.
The Black leatherette interior is in very nice condition with date-coded (9/57) seat hinges, VDO instrumentation, second-hand clock, day/night rearview mirror, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM Radio.
The fuel tank and fuel sending unit are also date-coded 9/57.
The undercarriage is very solid and rust-free.
Mechanically powered by its matching 1600cc flat-four Normal (60 horsepower) engine that runs flawlessly paired to a 644 manual 4-speed transmission with a four-wheel hydraulic drum brake system that stops the car perfectly.
A top-end engine rebuild was recently completed including new rod bearings, new piston and cylinder set, rebuilt cylinder heads, all the sheet metal was detailed and reassemble.
A new clutch and pressure plate were installed and the flywheel was surfaced and balanced.
Complete with spare tire, jack, tool kit, manual, and Certificate of Authenticity.

In early 1957, a second revision of the 356 A was produced, known as Type 2 (or T2).
