WP0AC2967RS480327 By 1989, the G-body 911 that had captivated audiences since the 1973 Frankfurt Motor Show and catapulted the Porsche brand to new heights was 15 years old.
A restyle was long overdue, and in 1989, the Carrera 4 and Carrera 2 debuted the 911's svelte new look.
Internally named the 964, the updated body borrowed styling cues from the curvaceous, aerodynamic 959, wearing more form-fitting front and rear bumpers and streamlined side sills.
The 959's influence continued underneath the new panels, with the traditional torsion bar front suspension replaced by coil springs and shock absorbers, in addition to power steering and anti-lock brakes making their first appearance on a series production 911.
Expected by many, the new 911 Turbo followed in March of the following year, powered by the proven air-cooled, turbocharged 3.
3-liter flat-six that had been in the back of the Turbo since 1978.
The long-running 3.
3 would last just two more years before it was replaced in 1994 by the 3.
6-liter unit that had powered naturally aspirated models since 1989.
With its single turbocharger, K-Jetronic fuel injection, and new pistons and cams, the Turbo 3.
6 produced 40 more horsepower than the outgoing 3.
3 for a total output of 355 horsepower.
This left-hand-drive 911 Turbo 3.
6 left the factory finished in Black with a Cashmere Beige/Black partial leather interior and equipped with a sunroof, electrically adjustable sport seats, Alpine Porsche CDC-1 CD changer stereo, and wheel caps with colored Porsche crests.
Additionally, the option code 10471 indicates that the car was equipped with an exclusive option from Exclusive; in this case, deviated seat piping in contrasting Black.
According to its accompanying clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report, the 911 spent time in Florida from 1995-2007 before being relocated to the West Coast, showing registration history in Washinton from 2007-2015.
The report shows subsequent registration history in Montana before returning to Florida in 2022.
Today, the Turbo shows just over 32,700 miles at cataloging and presents in superb condition - its Black paintwork benefiting from full ceramic coating and XPEL protection film at the front.
Tasteful upgrades include Motion Control Suspension two-way non-remote dampers with Eibach springs, while its factory exhaust remains in place.
Under current ownership, the Turbo's 3.
6-liter engine underwent a full mechanical rebuild said to exceed $34,000, encompassing new pistons and cylinders, injectors, cooling fan, gasket set, O-rings and seals, chain rails, oil return tubes, oil lines, flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, ignition wires, air filter, fuel filter, AC compressor, belts, fuel accumulator, and more.
With less than 100 miles traveled since this comprehensive service, this spectacular 911 Turbo 3.
6 is ready to be experienced just as the engineers in Stuttgart intended, for its epic handling and the rapidly climbing torque curve of its turbocharged, air-cooled flat-six.
